Our Top 4 Favourite UK Vegan Mexican Restaurants

Best Vegan Mexican Restaurants in the UK

The UK’s love for Mexican cuisine has exploded in recent years: beyond just Tex-Mex, you can now enjoy authentic tacos, award-winning street food, and modern dishes with a creative twist. And as Mexican food is naturally rich in beans, vegetables, corn and vibrant sauces, it fits perfectly with plant-based cooking. Here at EthiClick, we love Mexican food: bring on the burritos, tacos and fajitas! Our favourite dishes come wrapped in a wrap, smothered in refried beans and dressed with coriander. We’re excited to see many UK Mexican restaurants now offering fully- vegan menus – read on to discover our favourites.

Tacos and Flipflops (Peterborough)

We’re very lucky to live so close to an amazing vegan café. Tacos and Flipflops serves some of the best Mexican street food we’ve ever eaten: fresh, tasty and vibrant, all food is made on site and prepared with care. The couple behind Tacos are always friendly and ready to welcome you with a smile.
This fantastic spot has a modest but super cosy eat-in area, full of vivid colours, fairy lights and an incredible new sloth wall mural. They offer takeaway if you prefer to collect, and even delivery if you don’t want to leave the house. Although we intend to work our way through their entire menu at some point, we typically order the Philly me burrito, chimichanga and loaded nachos on rotation! They also offer a variety of tacos, wraps and side dishes; the standout extra for us is their hot sauce – simply divine.

Club Mexicana (Central London)

If you want fun and bold vegan Mexican food, you can’t go wrong with Club Mexicana. Known for its iconic bright pink branding, this London-based eatery now boasts three locations: Soho, Boxhall City and Mercato Mayfair. These self-titled ‘plant based flavour ravers’ are famous for their frozen margaritas, cheezeburger burritos and the back-by-popular-demand Baja to-fish tacos. We’ve sampled the loaded nachos, Buffalo chick’n burritos and strawberry daiquiris, and everything was super tasty, well-presented and quickly brought to us by friendly servers. If you’re in the area, be sure to check Club Mexicana out, and be transported to street-food heaven!

Mildreds (London – multiple locations)

Although not a Mexican restaurant, Mildreds often has Mexican-inspired dishes on its themed and seasonal menus. This revered vegan establishment has a beautifully quaint exterior, a warm and welcoming atmosphere, and offers stunning plant-based food that changes with the seasons, cooked by chefs from around the world. Mildreds is the vegan gift that keeps on giving, offering private dining, pre-theatre specials and an online shop with vegan bakery. Their menu is packed with intricate and unique dishes as well as a few comfort-food favourites, and their guacamole is some of the best we’ve ever tried! They’ve previously hosted a Fiesta Supper Club, celebrating Mexico’s bold flavours, and an ‘LA meets Mexico’ Veganuary experience, where traditional Mexican flavours met modern creativity, so keep an eye out for future events.

Texcoco (Camden)

Part of the multi-cuisine dining destination M’eat the Vegans, this Mexican food stall at the heart of Camden Stables Market serves up incredible tacos, burritos and quesadillas, celebrating the rich and diverse flavours of Mexico using only fresh and locally sourced plant-based ingredients. Texcoco’s eco-friendly approach and commitment to sustainability add to the charm of this bustling vibrant and authentic spot. We adored the loaded nachos, and the salted caramel shake was out of this world! All main dishes come with a choice of protein: veg, tofu, chick’n or lamb, so there’s something for everyone, and for every mood.

As you can see, there’s clearly no shortage of amazing vegan Mexican cuisine out there. Offering good vibes and even better food, these spots prove there’s no need to compromise on taste when eating plant based. Happy exploring!

Why Vegan Mexican Food Works So Well

  • Mexican cuisine naturally uses beans, corn, vegetables, chilli sauces, citrus and herbs, making it highly adaptable to plant-based cooking.
